Which is not in Kyoto so we're technically backtracking a bit. S'all good. We spent the second day touring Tokyo itself, specifically Harajuku, Shinjuku and Asakusa. I met up with an old friend of mine (Yuichi) outside the Harajuku station and we got to catch up and hang out the whole day, so that was good. But anyway, first was Harajuku. Harajuku is known quite a bit for Meiji Jingu, and for being the fashion center of Japan. There's an entire street there dedicated to food and clothing. Nikko!

Alrighty, back into the swing of things. Sort of, but enough to at least tell you the story of the first day. Nikko is a town about an hour outside of Tokyo, famous specifically for the temples it houses. The Nikko temple grounds holds a very large number of World Heritage sights, all within 4 or 5 temples. There couldn't be a more well protected national forest. The temples of Nikko were built in honor of Tokugawa Ieasu, and yes his grave also lies on the temple grounds. Re-adjusting

Dear sweet lord, I never thought it would be this much trouble hiking back into normal life. My initial reaction to leaving my affairs behind was: "Oh yeah, everything will be fine for me to take up when I get back. We're good to leave the world for two weeks". My final reaction to coming back to my affairs was: "Shit I'm boned". In short, the homework is far more daunting than I could have ever imagined and my motivation to complete it, is at an all time low. My brain does not want to leave vacation time.
